In the eastern US state of Virginia on Friday, a six-year-old child opened fire in an elementary school classroom, critically injuring a teacher, according to police.
The incident took place at Richneck Elementary School in Newport, Virginia during an altercation in the first-grade classroom.
The teacher who was shot is a 30-year-old woman and her injuries could be life-threatening. Fortunately, her condition since then has improved.
As per Steve Drew the local police chief it was not an accident and no students were hurt in the shooting. The investigators are still trying to figure out where the student got that handgun.
As per the experts, this kind of happen very rarely. The student is right now in custody where he is getting counseling.
“In the United States, school shootings are a common occurrence. One recent tragedy involved an 18-year-old gunman who killed 19 children and two instructors in Uvalde, Texas, last May.
